The platysma muscle is the flat muscle surrounding the front of the neck which rolls into vertical bands as we age.  These bands become more obvious as we get older due to the overlying skin which loses collagen and elastin and hence appears thinner and sags. The ageing of the neck is often referred to as ‘turkey neck’.

 

Anti wrinkle injections can be injected into the platysma muscles which soften and relax these bands making them appear less prominent.  Skin boosters, such as Profhilo, are also highly effective in restoring lost volume by boosting collagen and elastin in the skin.
